Events for #ClimateTrial

REMAINING EVENTS CANCELED

Our deepest thanks for all the local support.  It was our great privilege to meet so many wonderful people in Minnesota and gather an inkling of what life is like here. This Wednesday morning, after the surprise acquittal, we are scattering to the winds, taking our children back to school and returning home to the hard work of continued resistance to fossil fuels and working to speed up the shift to renewables in our home towns and states.  For an update, check out this morning's Democracy Now interview with Emily and Annette, and Dr. James Hansen.

Monday - Thursday, Oct 8-11, 8:30am: Circle up outside with defendants across the street from the courthouse on the Southeast side before we walk over to the courthouse each morning.

Monday, Oct 8th, 8:30am: MN #ClimateTrial begins. Leave your phones, laptops, and cameras in a secure place outside the courthouse and make sure you've read Courtroom Decorum before you dress for the day. The courtroom will be full of potential jurors, so please, find a place in the overflow room, and make sure not to talk to potential jurors; do not have political discussions or discuss the case anywhere where you could be overheard by potential jurors, or courthouse staff. Please restrict conversation to small talk and catch up about your families: resist the urge to talk about anything relevant to the case other than where you parked your car and where you will eat lunch.

6pm: Dinner in Bemidji Super 8 suite. Plan for take-out food.

Tuesday, Oct 9th, 9am: Court begins at 9am. Everyone should fit inside the courtroom this morning. We have room for 56. Leave your phones, laptops, and cameras in a secure place outside the courthouse and make sure you've read Courtroom Decorum before you dress for the day. Make sure not to talk to potential jurors; do not have political discussions or discuss the case anywhere where you could be overheard by potential jurors, or courthouse staff. Please restrict conversation to small talk and catch up about your families: resist the urge to talk about anything relevant to the case other than where you parked your car and where you will eat lunch.

Lunch: Frequent local businesses. Great cafes in walking distance from the Courthouse.

7pm: "Energy, Climate, & Health with Dr. James Hansen and Tara Houska"

American Indian Resource Center at Bemidji State University,1500 Birchmont Drive NE, Bemidji, MN 56601
Dr. Hansen will deliver a talk that cuts through the polarization of the talking heads and details the very real effect our energy use has on climate and health and both the burdens and opportunities that are created for young people. Don't miss this unique opportunity to hear the former Director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, share his urgent message to today's youth.

9pm: after AIRC event, head over to Brigid's Cross for food and drink
